Vivaldi Music Academy Honored with Proclamation for “Vivaldi Music Academy Day” by the City of Houston

Vivaldi Music Academy Honored with Proclamation
for “Vivaldi Music Academy Day” by the City of Houston

Houston, TX — July 28, 2023 — Vivaldi Music Academy, Houston’s premier music school, proudly celebrates a decade of providing the most comprehensive music education to the vibrant city of Houston. Founded in August 2013 by violinist and refugee, Zeljko Pavlovic, the academy has grown to five locations in 10 years, inspiring thousands of students to explore music and providing unparalleled opportunities to perform at world-renowned concert halls.

Over the past ten years, Vivaldi Music Academy has firmly established itself as a cornerstone of Houston’s music education landscape. With its comprehensive approach, the academy offers an extensive range of private music lessons and group classes across various instruments and genres. Vivaldi Music Academy provides performance opportunities in Houston and at prestigious concert halls also offering students master classes with esteemed partners, including Apple.

The academy’s dedication to excellence has yielded remarkable results, with its students performing at the most prestigious concert halls worldwide. From iconic venues like Carnegie Hall in New York City and Vivaldi’s Church in Venice, Italy, to The John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., Vivaldi Music Academy’s talented students have left a resounding mark.

In celebration of their momentous 10-year anniversary, Vivaldi Music Academy students recently had the opportunity of a lifetime, performing in Vienna’s illustrious Brahms Hall and enchanting Salzburg’s Marble Hall. Such extraordinary experiences exemplify the academy’s commitment to providing exceptional performance opportunities to its students.

The academy’s unwavering pursuit of excellence has garnered widespread recognition, both nationally and locally. In 2014, Vivaldi Music Academy was awarded the prestigious title of National Music School of the Year, solidifying its reputation as a leader in music education. Locally, the academy has been lauded as the best music school by Living Magazine and has been acknowledged by the Houston Business Journal as one of the city’s fastest-growing businesses. Furthermore, Vivaldi Music Academy’s impressive growth earned it a spot in Inc Magazine’s esteemed list of the 5000 fastest-growing companies in the nation for three consecutive years.

In light of Vivaldi Music Academy’s exceptional contributions to Houston’s musical fabric, the city is delighted to extend a proclamation honoring the academy’s 10-year milestone. On August 7th, 2023, the city of Houston officially designates it as “Vivaldi Music Academy Day,” celebrating the institution’s commitment to nurturing artistic talent and spreading the joy of music throughout the community.

“The academy’s impact has reached far beyond its walls, shaping the lives of its students and enriching the cultural fabric of the city,” stated the proclamation document.

To mark this momentous occasion, Vivaldi Music Academy invites the local community to join in the festivities on Monday, August 7th, at all five locations from 4-6 pm. As a token of appreciation, visitors will receive a special 10-year anniversary gift and can enter a raffle for a chance to win various exciting prizes, including a complimentary month of music lessons.

“We are humbled and grateful for the city of Houston’s proclamation recognizing our 10-year anniversary,” said Zeljko Pavlovic, Founder and CEO of Vivaldi Music Academy. “This proclamation symbolizes our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional music education and performance opportunities in Houston and beyond.”

Vivaldi Music Academy looks forward to continuing its mission of nurturing musical talent and fostering a love for music among aspiring musicians in the years to come.

Student Recital at Carnegie Hall 2022

Houston-Area Students Wow Crowds in Carnegie Hall in New York City

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? If you’re a student in the Greater Houston area, it’s by studying at Vivaldi Music Academy. Again, this year, Vivaldi Music students took to the stage of the iconic performing arts venue in New York City and performed before packed houses. For the past six years, Vivaldi students as young as five have performed in some of the top venues in the world including Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, The Royal Conservatory of Music in London, and even Antonio Vivaldi’s own church, Chiesa della Pieta’, in Venice, Italy.

All this is possible through the efforts and connections of Vivaldi Music Academy Founder and Director Zeljko Pavlovic. “We want our students to experience what it feels like to stand on a stage like Carnegie Hall,” Pavlovic said. “Most of our students are taking music lessons for the myriad benefits music gives them, not because they’ll be professional musicians. If they’re working toward becoming professional musicians, they may make it to Carnegie Hall on their own. But for the rest of them, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Eighty Vivaldi Music students performed in two Carnegie Hall concerts this year on July 5th and 7th along with several of the Vivaldi faculty members. Each musician had the opportunity to perform individually, relishing their own time on the historic stage.

“We had our first Carnegie Hall performance six years ago,” Pavlovic said. “Since then, we’ve heard from numerous parents how beneficial it was to their children to include that performance on their college application, helping many of them get into their first-choice colleges or into competitive high schools.”

Vivaldi Music Academy students can begin experiencing the transformative power of music in group lessons as young as one year old and private lessons as young as four. Other Vivaldi students are retirees eager to take up an instrument for the cognitive benefits. And there are students at every stage between. From age five up, they’re invited to participate in the annual concerts and Pavlovic is already hard at work negotiating where they’ll perform next year.

Zeljko Pavlovic began his own music journey with violin lessons at age three, in his home country of Bosnia, as chronicled in his autobiography, Failure Is Not an Option: My Story of Business, Survival, And Success in Life. By the time his family escaped war-torn Bosnia, Zeljko was 20 and already an accomplished violinist. He’s since performed with some of the top orchestras in this country and across Europe.

Vivaldi Music Academy was named National Music School of the Year by a peer group of over 250 music school owners. Pavlovic was an honoree in Houston Business Journal’s “40 under 40 Class” as well as Most Admired CEO in 2020. Vivaldi Music Academy was recognized as one of Inc 5000 fastest growing companies and one of Houston Business Journal’s 100 fastest growing companies in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Holiday Music Gift Guide

The holidays are here, and the gift of music is at the top of everyone’s wish list! There are a variety of guitars, pianos, and drum sets, plus different sizes of violin – so where do you begin when it comes to picking out the perfect gift? No need to stress! We let the experts at Vivaldi Music Academy put together an easy gift guide for this holiday season.

Give the gift of MUSIC this holiday season!
Guitar Lessons near me

Guitar: Both acoustic and electric guitars are fun (and super popular) holiday gifts.

Where to go: Guitar Center! They offer wonderful options with sets, and you can even score great holiday savings this time of year.

What to get: When it comes to an electric guitar, the Rocketeer Electric Guitar Pack definitely has the wow factor. It has everything your favorite rock-star-to-be needs to get started! If acoustic is more your jam, grab the Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar. It comes in a variety of colors, so you can customize your pick.

Piano Lessons near me

Piano/Keyboard: A standard 88 key, fully weighted keyboard is a great choice. Semi-weighted keys are fine as well for young beginners, but they will grow out of it quickly. Pro tip: you don’t need to worry about the number series of a piano (for example, Yamaha Aries YPD162), any full sized, 88 key weighted will work great!

Where to go: Amazon, Costco/Sam’s Club, and Guitar Center all have big selections when it comes to keyboards.

What to get: Keep an eye out for brands like Casio and Williams for starter keyboards (they aren’t as pricey!). If you are looking for an upgrade in sound and quality, go for the Yamaha instead. If you want to include a bench, stand, sustain pedal, and music rest, this Casio bundle from Costco is a solid choice.

Violin lessons near me

Violin/Cello: We know this can be a trickier one, but don’t be intimidated! We highly recommend renting a violin or cello from a local violin shop. There are two ways to properly measure a child for a violin. The easiest method is to have the student’s left arm fully extended away from his or her body, and measure from the base of the neck to either the wrist or the center of the palm. The neck-to-wrist measurement will indicate the most comfortable size for the student.

Where to go: Lisle’s Violin Shop (2450 Bissonnet St, Houston, TX 77005; (713) 526-4005) and Amati Violin Shop (2315 University Blvd, Houston, TX 77005, (713) 666-6461) are our two top picks. You can trust the experts there will direct you to the right instrument.

What to get: Both places will help to size the student and find the right violin for them. They do rentals and purchases, so you can choose what’s best for you!

Drum Lessons near me

Drum Sets: Electric drum sets are always an exciting choice for the holidays!

Where to go: Sweetwater.com has lots of choices when it comes to drum sets, plus some good holiday deals and discounts as well.

What to get: Alesia is a premier brand and the instrument we use during regular weekly lessons. This Surge Electric Drum Set has all the essentials!

GIVE THE GIFT OF MUSIC

Once you have decided on the instrument you are going to give—learning how to play it will start at Vivaldi Music Academy! You can add a gift certificate to your gift for a month of lessons. We offer flexible scheduling and our gift certificates don’t expire, so it’s the perfect stocking stuffer for any music enthusiast. As always, our friendly staff is just a phone call away, so if you have any questions about giving the gift of music, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Recital Preparations for Private Music Lessons

Recital Prep 101: Tips for a Successful Performance

It’s recital season! You’ve spent months practicing and honing your craft, and now it’s time to showcase all your hard work! Since this time around we’re going the virtual route (yay for safety!), here are some best-practices (pun intended) when preparing for a whole new version of your summer recital:

1. Plan Ahead!

We know it’s Summer, and there are lots of fun activities to do in your free time. But a successful recital performance means a well-rested performance, so make sure the day before you record isn’t too cram-packed with adventures in the late-afternoon/evening hours. If they end up running late, you might end up with a less-than ideal amount of sleep. And maybe you’re the kind of no-nonsense musician that could power through a sleepy Fur Elise with no problem. But if you’re like the rest of us, those recital pieces look a whole lot easier on a good night’s sleep. So set yourself up for success, and get to sleep at a reasonable hour the night before you plan to record your performance.

2. Block out some time

We know you’ll probably nail your recital piece(s) on the first try. But just in case, it’s a good idea to pick a time to record your recital piece and leave the next few hours of your schedule open. If you’ve got a busy day and feel like you’re running against the clock, you’re more likely to rush your performance… and potentially make a few mistakes along the way. So block out a few hours for you to get it done at your leisure. Take some time to warm up beforehand. And hey, maybe try a few different versions of that bow. Palms open, palms down, the possibilities are endless!

3. Fuel your music!

When you’re feeling hungry or sluggish from a less-than-stellar breakfast choice, your focus might be on a grumbling tummy– and not so much on that recital piece. So make sure you arrive hydrated and fueled to your recital recording. A high-protein meal (like eggs) will leave you full for longer, and set the tone for an energetic mind and a superior performance.

4. Relax!

With a pre-recorded recital, the pressure is somewhat off this year as it is– but once those cameras start recording, it’s tough not to feel those same recital-day nerves settle in. So take a deep breath! You’re in complete control. Instead of stressing about a perfect performance, focus on relaxing and enjoying your opportunity to showcase your talent and hard work. Music is a freeing means of self-expression, and performing it should be fun!

5. And finally…share those debut times!

We want the whole world to be able to take part in your accomplishments, and this year, you can share your performance with even out-of-state friends and family members! Spread the word! Make sure everyone knows the facebook live drill and how to sign on to see your performance. Then…it’s your time to shine!
