Experts agree that music is an excellent vehicle for early childhood development! Not only does music bring joy to your child, it helps their neural networks make connections needed for enhanced social and intellectual development. Each class is small in size and focuses on a narrow age range (1–2 years, 2-3 years, 3-4 years, and 4-5 years of age) with a musical atmosphere of play, song and dance. Our comprehensive music readiness classes for older children are great preparation for overall musicianship and eventual private lessons.
Early Childhood Music Classes
Spring (ages 1-2)
We believe parents are the first and best teachers for their children! Our Spring classes are designed with age appropriate activities for children and engagement of the parent to encourage play, exploration and expanded musical learning for child AND parent. Lessons present a variety of musical genres including folk songs from around the world, contemporary music, and selections from classical music. The Spring classes will provide your family a newfound understanding of music and ideas to support your child’s social and cognitive development. A wonderful class for parent-child bonding while establishing listening skills and a sense of beat.
Summer (ages 2-3)
Our Summer classes celebrate the growing toddler’s desire to be independent! Children are given the opportunity to prepare for independent singing, dancing and play age appropriate instruments. A fun-filled program for toddlers, we also build self-confidence, communication and social skills along with a focus on early literacy. Multiple genres of music are introduced to broaden the musical palette of both child and parent. Live performances on real instruments, quality recordings and quality educational musical instruments are an essential part of class.
Autumn (ages 3-4)
Expand your child’s growing curiosity with our Autumn classes for pre-schoolers! With an expansion in world music, we will guide your child through imaginative play activities, story-telling, and exploration of age appropriate instruments to enhance their musical, cognitive and physical development. Children will learn a number of musical comparatives. The introduction of early music concepts enhances overall musicianship and lays the foundation for school-aged skills. Quality recordings, in class performances, and expanded folk song repertoire are highlights of the Autumn age group. This age group also prepares rhythmic and notation reading for use in our Winter class.
Winter (ages 4-6)
Winter classes encourage your school-aged child’s creativity and self-expression through music literacy! We’ll develop skills in concentration, memory, rhythmic and notation reading in preparation for eventual private music instruction and school readiness. Winter students will continue developing good auditory skills through play and ensemble work, learn more about music history, major composers and their significant works. Live performances, quality recordings, expansion of musical repertoire are an essential part of each class. Students will have the unique opportunity to showcase what they have learned twice a year at Vivaldi Music Academy’s Student Recitals.
