Summer recitals are coming up quickly – please talk to your teachers if you would like to participate! You must be approved by your teacher in order to participate. A link for Sign-up Genius will be emailed to students on Monday April 23rd with the recital schedule.

Please keep in mind you must be enrolled in the Academy and full tuition paid for the month of June in order to participate.

Don’t forget – Inclement Weather Make-Ups and Spring Recess

Hurricane Harvey Inclement Weather make-up lessons will be held during Vivaldi Music Academy’s Spring Recess. If you were affected by our closure in August 2017 due to Hurricane Harvey, please check your email or with the front desk to confirm your make-up lesson time if you have not made-up those lessons yet.

For all other students, Vivaldi Music Academy will be closed for Spring Recess Monday, March 12th, 2018 – Saturday, March 17th, 2018. Classes and lessons will resume Sunday, March 18th, 2018.

Happy Holidays from Vivaldi Music Academy | December Newsletter

Vivaldi Music Academy will be holding our Student Winter Recitals at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music (Alice Pratt Brown Hall) on Saturday December 9th, Sunday December 10th, Saturday December 16th and Sunday December 17th. Don’t forget – family and friends are welcome to attend! We can’t wait to see all of our students perform!

Updated Parking Details:

The current parking lot for Shepherd School of Music (Alice Pratt Brown Hall) will be closed to prepare for construction site for a new music and opera building. The West Lot 2 has been designated for all Shepherd School of Music (Alice Pratt Brown Hall) events. The easiest way to access this lot is to enter campus from Entrance #18 off Rice Boulevard and then turn right at the parking gates to West Lot 2. For visitors with disabilities, accessible parking will be available at the south end of the lot.

A credit card will be required to pay for parking for West Lot 2. The fees for the use of these lots are $1 for each 30 minutes, with a $11 daily maximum.

The back to school season can be hectic. Sometimes simply getting back into the swing of things takes some preparation. Here are some easy tips to ease the transition!

Lock down your schedule

Most kids respond well to consistent schedules, so use a calendar to ensure everyone know what activities are expected each day. This includes both lessons and practice times! Also consider including a rewards system that will help make the connection from consistent practicing and hard work to beautiful musical results.

Set realistic expectations for practicing

Make sure everyone is on the same page! Younger children may need shorter practice times compared to older children. Also, if your child is overtired from school and other activities, try to reschedule a time when they are well-rested and enthusiastic for learning music.

Stay organized

Come to music lessons with all the essentials! If your child is especially forgetful, consider creating a checklist and posting it on the door.

Befriend your child’s music teacher

You are more than welcome to sit in on at least the first few lessons, which will help ease anxiety and also allows you to get a feel for their teaching style. Communication is key for everyone!

Don’t forget the practice journal

A practice journal can be an incredibly valuable tool, when both student and teacher are using it effectively. Sit down with your child and review the journal each week.

On Friday June 23 2017, forty-three Vivaldi Music Academy students took the stage at the D.C. venue. The curtain went up at 7:30 sharp, when students, teachers, family, and friends were delighted in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

IT ALL BEGAN ON REGISTRATION DAY

Registration for the recital opened at 9AM on January 21 at both VMA facilities. Recognizing the value of this opportunity, parents assembled outside the studios at 4AM to gain a position in line, and – in true rock-concert fashion - spots were filled in five minutes once doors opened.

Vivaldi strings students have been invited to perform with the renowned group the Piano Guys for the last two years. And we’ll be joining them on-stage again at the Revention Music Center on August 25th. Our strings students are working hard in rehearsals leading up to the concert!

On Friday June 23 2017, forty-three Vivaldi Music Academy students took the stage at the D.C. venue. The curtain went up at 7:30 sharp, when students, teachers, family, and friends were delighted in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

IT ALL BEGAN ON REGISTRATION DAY

Registration for the recital opened at 9AM on January 21 at both VMA facilities. Recognizing the value of this opportunity, parents assembled outside the studios at 4AM to gain a position in line, and – in true rock-concert fashion - spots were filled in five minutes once doors opened.

Golden Invitations for our star performers were a hit with our students and families!

The evening featured solo performances in violin, piano, guitar, and voice, and highlighted a bluegrass instrumental ensemble. The event wasn’t complete without showcasing six of the Academy’s talented instructors, including Director Zeljko Pavlovic.

Our summer recitals here in Houston were a huge success! Congratulations to everyone for their hard work and fabulous performances at Houston Baptist University’s Belin Chapel. We’re looking forward to our Winter Recitals December 2017 at Rice University!

We’re so proud of Alexa C. on her acceptance into the Houston Youth Symphony! Alexa is always working hard to achieve her musical goals with her teacher, Ms. Courtney, and is also an active violinist for the American Festival of the Arts (AFA).
