Yuning Zhu is a dedicated pianist and early keyboard specialist who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Education from Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, China. She completed two Master of Arts degrees in Specialized Music Performance at Haute École de Musique de Genève in Switzerland, focusing on historical instruments (harpsichord, clavichord, fortepiano) and as Maestro al Cembalo (early music conducting). Additionally, she holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Ensemble Conducting (specializing in contemporary repertoire) from Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland.
Yuning’s musical journey began at the age of six when she started learning both the accordion and piano, while also singing in a local children’s choir. Over the years, she developed a deep passion for collaborative work with ballet. She has worked as a ballet pianist for over 30 years, playing for ballet classes and rehearsals in China, France, and Switzerland.
In addition to her extensive experience as a performer, Yuning has actively explored the art of orchestra conducting. She has participated in numerous orchestra conducting masterclasses across Europe, working with renowned conductors and collaborating with orchestras in the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and Austria. These opportunities have enriched her musical expression and deepened her understanding of ensemble collaboration. Yuning’s passion for the human side of music has also led her to the field of music therapy.
She is deeply interested in the emotional, psychological, and healing aspects of music, and she brings this holistic perspective into her teaching, aiming to inspire students not only as musicians but also as whole individuals.
With over 30 years of experience teaching piano, Yuning has worked with students of all ages and levels – from young beginners to adults, and even to advanced musicians. She is passionate about helping each student discover their unique musical voice, nurturing both technical skill and artistic expression. Drawing from her rich and diverse background – spanning from early music to contemporary repertoire, from solo performance to collaborative projects, and from chamber music to full orchestra – Yuning brings a uniquely holistic perspective to her teaching. She guides students to understand music not just as notes on a page, but as a living art form shaped by history, style, and human connection.
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes patience, creativity, and adaptability, tailoring each lesson to meet the individual needs and goals of her students. Yuning strives to create a positive and inspiring learning environment where students can build confidence, develop a lifelong love for music, and grow not only as pianists but also as well-rounded individuals. She is thrilled to welcome new students to her studio and looks forward to guiding them on a joyful and rewarding musical journey.
