Jessika Albuquerque has been developing her violin skills for over 20 years. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she began her musical studies at the age of 8. After performing in numerous recitals and refining her musical abilities, Jessika became the concertmaster of the Orquestra Jovem Guri Santa Marcelina. During this time, she had the opportunity to perform some of the most challenging and iconic symphonic works, including Brahms’ Symphony No. 2, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, among others.
Throughout her tenure as concertmaster, Jessika worked with renowned conductors such as George Stelutto (Juilliard School of Music, and recently Music Director of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra), Emiliano Baldini (concertmaster of the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra and conductor), and Claudio Cruz (Music Director of the Ribeirão Preto Symphony Orchestra). She went on to earn a degree in Music Education from Universidade Unisant’anna in São Paulo, Brazil.
Jessika has been a member of several orchestras and chamber groups in Brazil, including the Mendelssohn Octet, the Orquestra de Guarulhos, Orquestra Jovem Municipal, and Orquestra Jovem de Jundiaí. She also holds a Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the University of Houston. In the U.S., she has performed in ballet, opera, and chamber music settings, working with esteemed instructors such as Eunghee Cho, Mannes Wenn Lo, Brian Suits, and Franz Krager.
Throughout her career, Jessika has had the opportunity to perform and study with exceptional musicians including Cecilia Guida (Argentina), Betina Stegman (Argentina), Anastacia Petrunina (Russia), Thomas Joiner (U.S.), Davi Graton (Brazil), Emmanuelle Baldini (Italy), the Formosa Quartet (U.S.), and Kirsten Yon (U.S.). In 2023, she graduated with her Master’s degree, and in 2024, she was accepted into the Sewanee Music Festival (Tennessee) and the National Music Festival (Maryland).
Currently, Jessika is teaching violin and pursuing a certificate in Music Business at Houston Community College.
