Tyler is a classically trained musician with expertise in both performance and pedagogy. He has completed extensive graduate-level work at the University of Missouri and brings eight years of experience teaching in both elementary and secondary education.
Tyler began his musical journey at age 10, starting with the trombone in his school’s music program. He later expanded his skill set to include guitar, studying privately to refine his technique. With years of performance experience in concert bands, jazz ensembles, and chamber groups, Tyler is proficient in a wide range of musical genres, including classical, jazz, folk, country, rock, and blues. His diverse performance background has led him to collaborate with musicians across the United States, including states such as Colorado, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, and his home state of Arkansas.
Dedicated to both performing and teaching, Tyler is passionate about helping students discover their unique musical voices. He has worked with numerous talented young musicians, many of whom have earned top positions in honor groups throughout Arkansas and have achieved national recognition, including opportunities to perform with the President’s Own Marine Band.
One of Tyler’s most notable performances occurred in 2015 when he had the privilege of performing alongside five-time Grammy Award winner Victor Wooten, playing several world-premiere jazz arrangements.
Outside of music, Tyler enjoys kayaking the rivers and lakes of Arkansas with his dog, Roo, cooking elaborate meals, and exploring vintage bookstores.
