Todd B. is a pianist and drummer born and raised musician in La Porte, Texas near the Greater Houston Area. He was Homeschooled for most of his life and learned to play music at an early age of 14 and then went to a community college to learn more about music. While at San Jacinto Community College he has part take in some of the ensembles on campus like Steel Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band. He went to clinics and traveled and learned from the greats from mostly Drum Set Specialist like Ed Soph, Jose Aponte, Wayne Salzmann II, John Riley, Joel Fulgham, and Mike Drake, but also in the world of classical music Bob Becker, Mark Ford, Michele Mizma, James Metcalf, and Ian Rollins. After being on the deans list for his entire time there and graduating with an associate in music he wanted to learn more, but from the jazz legend Butch Miles, who has played with Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Tony Bennett, and More. Todd has studied Jazz at Texas State University for B.A. Music Performance in the Jazz Concentration in drum and piano. Todd specializes in piano and drum-set performances around town.
Todd Blackmon discovered his love of music in the drums and piano a decade ago (2008) through Rock Band and Guitar Hero. He spent hours and hours each day perfecting the riffs of Neil Peart, Dave Grohl, Charlie Watts, and other legends of the rock world. Upon reaching “Expert” level, he traded in his pad for real drum heads, and began studying drum set with a private teacher. His passion has carried him through two music degrees.
Todd has started out playing drum and piano and has helped other fellow musicians with there craft by giving clinics and lessons by giving out the knowledge that he has learned from his heroes in the world of music and also the teachers that he has studied under that will help him make other future musician want to pursue music in the near future.
