Siwei Z is a soprano rapidly gaining recognition for her captivating presence and exceptional vocal artistry on the operatic stage, lauded for her “commanding and regal” voice by the Houston Press. Her recent performances have showcased her versatility and depth, with roles including Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore (Donizetti), where she charmed audiences with her lively interpretation, and Magda in La Rondine (Puccini), where her expressive lyricism brought a poignant emotional resonance to the character.
Zhang has also made a notable impact as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni (Mozart), exhibiting her ability to convey complex emotions, and as Diana in Orpheus in the Underworld (Offenbach), where her dynamic stage presence engaged and delighted audiences. Her performances with distinguished companies such as Opera in the Heights, Opera in the Ozarks, and Moores Opera Center highlight her dedication to the operatic craft.
Beyond her performance work, she is committed to expanding the appreciation of opera as a Teaching Artist with Houston Grand Opera Community and Learning.
