Ukrainian-born pianist Olena Blahulyak is a current DMA student in Piano Performance at the University of Houston, Moores School of Music.
Her musical journey started at the age of four. By the age of twelve, she was admitted to the prestigious M.Lysenko Special Musical School in Kyiv, Ukraine.
She continued her musical studies at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine. In 2009 Ms.Olena obtained her Master’s Degree in Piano Performance and Education.
Throughout her youth, Ms. Olena received numerous scholarships and won several National and International Competitions in Ukraine, Spain, Romania, and Russia.
After graduation from Tchaikovsky Academy, Ms.Olena moved to Spain, Malaga. In Malaga, she is stimulated by a creative partnership, as evidenced by her active performing schedule and ongoing musical collaborations in European countries such as Poland, Switzerland, Spain, Romania, and Central America, Guatemala.
Years 2010-2016 Ms.Blahulyak has been a featured guest artist in several Music Festivals such a” Ciudad Jamilena” (Jaen, Spain) and “ Malaga Classica” (Malaga, Spain), holding a piano faculty position at the “Ivan Galamian Music Academy.”
In 2016 Ms.Olena got accepted to Sam Houston State University to obtain her second Master’s degree in Piano Performance under the guidance of Dr. Josu De Solaun.
After graduation in 2018, she held an Adjunct Faculty and staff accompanist position at the same institution.
Ms.Olena is currently in her first year of the DMA program in Piano Performance at the University of Houston, studying with Dr.Tali Morgulis.
She also serves as a pianist at the First United Methodist Church in Huntsville and lives in Houston with her beloved Chinese Pug, Daria.
