Michelle Kim began violin studies at the age of six. Her teachers have included Aaron Berofsky and Kyung Sun Lee. She currently holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Seoul National University in South Korea, a Master’s Degree from University of Michigan, and is continuing her studies at Rice University under Cho Liang-Lin.
She received 4th place in the 2016 Hellam Competition and was a finalist in the University of Michigan concerto competition in 2016. She was a featured artist in the Millennium Stage Series Conservatory Project at the Kennedy Center in 2016.
Michelle has performed as a soloist with the Kansas City Philharmonic, Topeka Symphony, Busan Sinfonietta, and the Daegu MBC Orchestra. Michelle has performed as concertmaster in various orchestras including the Texas Music Festival, Chautauqua Music Festival, KNN Orchestra and the Shepherd School of Music. She has attended Great Mountain Music Festival, New York String Orchestra Seminar, BANFF Centre for the Arts, Music Academy of the West and Garth Newel Emerging Artist Program.
