Meg T was born and raised in Leonardtown, Maryland and has been playing the piano since she was seven years old, taking lessons under Mrs. Barbara Graham for nearly 12 years. She has a range of performance experience including choirs, large instrumental ensembles, chamber groups, collaborative work with soloists, musical theatre work, and solo performance in both voice and piano. In high school, she received St. Mary’s Ryken’s Music Scholarship, and participated in the school’s various ensembles working as a collaborative pianist for many of the groups’ performances. She awarded multiple music-related accolades during her time there.
She then went on to attend James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA and graduated with her Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance, with a minor in Entrepreneurship. There, Meg developed a deeper appreciation for both classical and modern-day piano repertoire of all different kinds. She completed her Senior Recital, which included repertoire from big-hitters Beethoven, Schumann, and Satie, as well as less commonly-known female composer Lili Boulanger, and a short piece by a composer from her school, Jack Yagerline.
She also taught her first students during her time at JMU, and fell in love with watching beginning musicians learn and grow. She is grateful and excited to continue doing so at Vivaldi Music Academy, with a holistic teaching style reflective of her interests other than music, which include fitness and mental health awareness. Meg aims to always put the student’s experience first to ensure that music is something that they enjoy and appreciate for themselves, and works to create an open and fun environment to achieve this.
