Matthew H is an oboist, pianist, and composer currently living in Houston as a second-year doctoral student in oboe performance at the University of Houston. He currently is a TA for music theory/aural skills and teaches in the local school districts around Houston. He graduated with highest honors being a Bronze Tablet recipient from the University Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a BM in Oboe Performance and a BM in Music Composition and Theory, and also from the University of Missouri Kansas City with a Master’s. He has performed with the local orchestras around Urbana-Champaign, the Midwest Chamber Ensemble, the Northland Symphony, the Heritage Philharmonic, the Medical Arts Symphony, the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, the Paradiso Reed Quintet, the Puffins Woodwind Quintet, and the National Music Festival. His principal oboe teachers include Jonathan Fischer, Celeste Johnson, and John Dee, principal composition teachers include Erin Gee and Stephen Taylor, and principal piano teachers include Muen Wei, Alie Yorgason, and Olga Bornovalova.
