John V Jr. is a performing percussionist and teacher from Laredo, TX. John started playing the drums at an early age, inspired by his family’s performing roles with local Tejano and 70s rock bands.

In addition to cumbia, merengue, and salsa music from his childhood, John is also inspired by rock and progressive metal bands, especially Metallica and Dream Theater. John performs with his band, KAOS, for festivals, public venues, and private events around the city, and the group has signed on with Arctic Records.

John enjoys working with beginners to advanced students to play a variety of genres, including pop, rock, metal, funk, jazz, Latin, and marching band. Many students take lessons as a hobby, while others produce and compose their own works and continue to pursue careers in music. John is excited to share the power of music with his students at Vivaldi Music Academy!
