Jhoser is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts student at University of Houston in the studio of the worldwide renowned clarinetist Mark Nuccio. He graduated with honors from the Fundacion Universitaria Bellas Artes (Colombia) where he studied clarinet with Maestro Jose Garcia-Taborda, as well as complementary piano. He also completed his Masters of Musical Arts at EAFIT University in Colombia, under the wing Dr. Javier Vinasco. In addition, he has received performance degrees in the Conservatoire du 6em Arrondissment (Paris) and Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, PA).
Jhoser began his musical studies at the school of music in his hometown of Urrao, Antioquia. He is currently a faculty member at Iberacademy (Academia Filarmónica Iberoamericana), where he has taught every summer since 2016. Mr. Salazar has played as soloist with orchestras in Colombia such as EAFIT Symphony, Iberacademy Orchestra, and Colombian Youth Symphony. In his orchestral trajectory he has been invited to play in orchestras all over the continent including Sphinx Symphony Orchestra, Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and Houston Symphony Orchestra in repertory with the Colombian Youth Philharmonic. Jhoser is excited to bring his unique perspective to his new students here in Houston!
