Jaeyoung Kim is a distinguished pianist renowned for his skillful solo performances and contributions to chamber music. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Jeffrey Cohen, Jaeyoung Kim continues to expand his musical horizons. His commitment to music education is evident through his role as a Teaching Assistant at MSM and Columbia University, where he imparts his knowledge and passion to aspiring musicians.
Jaeyoung K’s musical journey began in South Korea, where he started studying the piano at a young age. His studies led him to prestigious institutions, such as the Korean National University of the Arts and The Juilliard School, where he honed his skills under the guidance of accomplished teachers like Emanuel Ax, Joseph Kalichstein, and Jerome Lowenthal.
In 2020, Jaeyoung Kim was honored with the Grand Prize at the 9th Metropolitan International Piano Competition in New York City, a notable achievement that attests to his musical prowess. His accolades also include a Grand Prize at the 3rd East Coast International Competition in 2016, as well as a First Prize at the 16th Princeton Festival’s International Piano Competition and the 3rd Manhattan International Music Competition. His outstanding performances have garnered recognition from esteemed judges and organizations within the music community.
Throughout his musical journey, Jaeyoung K has demonstrated a commitment to excellence. His participation in prestigious competitions, such as the Yamaha Young Performing Artists (YYPA) Competition and the Oberlin (Cooper) International Piano Competition, highlights his dedication to honing his craft.He has also immersed himself in festivals like Pianofest in the Hamptons, Art of the Piano, Sarasota Music Festival, and Music Academy of the West, where he had the privilege of learning from renowned artists and mentors.
