His educational journey started at College of Southern Idaho, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree with a focus on classical piano and vocal pedagogy. His pursuit of musical excellence continued at Christian Life College in Stockton, CA, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in modern music theory and performance. This diverse education equipped him with a well-rounded understanding of various musical styles and techniques.
Growing up, Dustin’s father played a pivotal role in shaping his musical interests. His father’s skilled baritone voice and leadership in worship at their local church provided a strong foundation for Dustin’s musical journey. Additionally, his mother’s exposure to different musical styles during mundane activities left a lasting impact on his understanding of music’s transformative power to shape emotions and environments positively.
Dustin’s commitment to music extended into his professional life as he served as a full-time church music director for more than a decade. Throughout this experience, he discovered a profound passion for teaching and supporting musicians, singers, and songwriters of all ages in their musical endeavors. His teaching approach is a blend of modern music theory, ear training, and a touch of classical technique, which creates an engaging and comprehensive learning experience for his students.
