DeSean Rollen is a highly accomplished pianist and educator from Augusta, Georgia, where he established a strong foundation in piano performance. He earned his Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Georgia, studying under renowned instructors Dr. Evgeny Rivkin and Dr. Peter Jutras. During his graduate studies, DeSean served as a teaching assistant at the UGA Community Music School, where he gained invaluable teaching experience. Prior to his master’s degree, he earned his Bachelor’s in Piano Performance from Augusta State University, under the mentorship of Dr. Rosalyn Floyd. While completing his undergraduate studies, DeSean actively participated in the Westabou Festival Recital and earned recognition in competitions and masterclasses hosted by the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) and the Georgia Music Teachers Association (GMTA).
After finishing his formal education, DeSean relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he expanded his career by offering private lessons and online courses. He collaborated with local musicians across a variety of musical genres, produced music for recording artists, and worked as an A&R representative for a subsidiary of Sony Music. DeSean’s solo piano repertoire primarily showcases works from the early and late Romantic periods, and he enjoys composing and improvising in a late Romantic style in his spare time. Outside of music, he has a passion for creative writing, travel, and cuisine.
