Raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Dazyia M recalls being able to sing since she could talk, showing a passion for music from a tender age. Between the ages of 7 and 10, she took vocal lessons with a talented older woman in her hometown, an experience that fueled her desire to teach music in the future. Upon moving to Texas, Dayzia immersed herself in choir throughout middle and high school, honing her sight-reading skills and deepening her appreciation for classical compositions.
Now Dayzia is a sophomore at Texas Southern University, majoring in music for voice performance and minoring in Psychology for future work in music therapy. Her college education has included learning basic piano skills, such as playing scales, transposing to different keys, harmonizing, and performing music pieces for exams. Dayzia’s vocal range is soprano 1, with the highest note she can sing on the piano being C6 and the lowest being C3. She has been teaching vocal and piano lessons and, dedicating to providing her students with repertoire they enjoy to showcase their personalities.
Dayzia’s musical influences include Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, as well as bands like Queen, AC/DC, and Alice In Chains. Beyond music, Gabriel enjoys activities such as singing, yoga, exercise, dancing, learning about music, and watching movies.
