Alfonso F began playing drums at the age of 16 in Caracas, Venezuela. From that moment on, a natural and familiar connection with the instrument flourished. A year later, he began his formal drum studies with Cristobal Pitalua, one of the most renowned drum teachers in the country. At the same time, he started his formal training as a Music Composer at Ars Nova School of Music, with Maria Eugenia Atilano.
Throughout his career, Alfonso has been involved in music education. From private music and drum lessons to working with a nonprofit organization and tutoring new students for the admission exam at his alma mater. His students range from children to adults.
In addition, he has been involved in different musical projects. Playing drums in various bands of different styles: rock, jazz, funk, reggae, and many others. As a music director for the Soka Gakkai de Venezuela Youth Band, he composed, arranged, and directed the piece “Sucesores” which premiered in 2011 at Teatro Teresa Carreno, as part of the Festival Juvenil Soka. He also produced the album “I” for his band Indeeveeduo, released in 2012, and composed the symphonic poem “Volver” in 2013.
Alfonso believes that education is about motivation and striving to achieve one’s full potential and that each individual’s learning process is different and unique.
