Adrian L. began studying and playing music at the age of 9, and he has been gigging as a guitarist with rock bands since 1992. Before receiving his bachelors degree, Adrian completed the music program at San Jacinto college, where he focused on music composition, classical and jazz guitar, piano, and drum kit. After transferring to the University of North Texas, he received cum laude honors for a B.M. in Music Theory. At UNT, Adrian remained concentrated on classical guitar and piano, and continued his studies of music composition and theory.
He has studied under international classical guitarists such as Pavel Steidle and Zuran Dukic, collaborated with numerous dance choreographers, and has had several compositions performed by international groups such as the Dévah Quartet and Thelema Trio. Adrian teaches all genres of guitar from beginning to advanced; classical and jazz piano; as well as drum kit, bass guitar, and ukulele. He has been teaching private lessons since 2012, and he believes in a linear philosophy of education, in which the student is taught skill progressively so that they will clearly see and be inspired by their progress. In lessons, Adrian joyfully teaches his students music theory and ear training as well, and encourages them to improvise so that they may embark on their own compositional endeavors. Adrian loves the art that is teaching, and relishes the chance to grow as an instructor every lesson.
Personally, Adrian cooks every meal that he and his family eat, practices yoga, and is a loving cat and dog person. He has two dogs and a cat who will turn three in October. He loves coffee, but is trying to give it up, so don’t be surprised to see him with a cup. But he’s trying.
