Common Questions About Piano Lessons

What is a good age to start piano lessons?

Many children are ready to begin piano lessons around age four. For older children and adults, it is never too late to start! Anyone can learn to play piano with the right environment and teacher.

Are 30-minute piano lessons worth it?

Thirty-minute lessons work exceptionally well for younger piano learners  A weekly thirty-minute lessons will provide students the opportunity to share what they practiced, learn new skills and finish their lessons with new found skills. 

Am I too old to learn piano?

No one is ever too old to begin playing piano. Learning as an adult can be a rewarding experience. 

How long will it take for my child to learn piano?

The amount of time it will take your child to learn piano depends on the length of the songs and implementing new skills learned.  Private, personalized lessons are an excellent resource to begin learning. 

What benefits can I expect from learning piano?

Playing the piano can improve memory, attention, and language skills, which can enhance overall cognitive performance. It can also help improve concentration skills, as piano players need to manage multiple things at once, such as reading music, using both hands and playing the pedals.

Is playing piano a talent or a skill?

While there may be some students who have advantages over others, no one is “born with” natural piano talent. Everyone must practice and develop their skills to play well. If you feel like you don’t have any “talent,” don’t worry! With the right teacher and quality practice, you can make progress quickly.
