Summer Recitals at University of St. Thomas this June!

We are looking forward to the Summer Recitals on June 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd at the University of St. Thomas at Cullen Hall. Please review your emails for the FAQs and let us know if you have any questions as we get closer to recital days – we’re here to help you have a smooth and memorable recital experience!

From creating a theme song to learning notes and chords on iPads and iPad Pros, Vivaldi students had a blast.

Vivaldi Music Academy partners with Apple!

Students have the exclusive opportunity to make music and learn at Today at Apple music sessions. These sessions will inspire students to create music and dream big with technology!

We have hand selected music sessions for students to learn how to create their favorite theme songs on GarageBand Smart Instruments and build songs from famous producers and songwriters! The sessions will be at the Apple Store in Highland Village (4012 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77027) and led by an Apple Creative. iPad/iPad Pros will be provided at the store – students are also welcome to bring their own iPad/iPad Pro.

We are excited to share this exclusive opportunity with Vivaldi students!

Vivaldi Music Academy Students Make Royal Debut in London this Summer

Vivaldi Music Academy students perform in London at the Royal Academy of Music in the iconic Duke’s Hall. Over forty performers and two concerts, the students will showcase their talents in solo and ensemble on Monday, July 15th at 2pm and 7pm.

The Royal Academy of Music is the oldest conservatory in the U.K. Duke’s Hall has been a pillar of the campus since 1911, when the academy moved to its current site. The venue’s rich history, combined with the international academy’s dedication to emboldening its scholars’ creativity and musical prowess. We are looking forward to the royal debut!

COSTUME CONTEST #VivaldiHalloween

Show us your spookiest, funniest, outlandish, and cutest costumes from October 1st to November 1st. Share your photos with the hashtag #VivaldiHalloween on your social media, tag @vivaldimusicacademy or email us your pictures to info@vivaldimusicacademy.com. Not only will we share your costume ideas on our student wall, participants will also be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card!

We can’t wait to see the Halloween performance of our Strings Ensemble, Children’s Choir and Vivaldi Rocks at Hermann Park on Saturday October 27th . Please come out to the Lake Plaza in Hermann Park at noon to view the performance and support our students!

VIVALDI SEASONS – Haunted Houses and Spooky Music by famous composers!

Our early childhood music classes will embrace the October theme of “Fall ideas” with songs about leaves, squirrels, nuts, and of course, pumpkins! We add slightly “spooky” song and rhyme concepts with cats, haunted houses, ghosts and jack o’ lanterns. Nothing over the top scary, simply a surprising “BOO!” now and again which is always a recipe for giggles. Our all-time favorite part of October is the music we listen to!

Begin your musical adventure with us at Vivaldi Music Academy!

Now that we have all settled into our back-to-school routines, it’s time to think about how your student can expand his or her horizons with achievement through music! Vivaldi Music Academy offers private music lessons, ensemble classes and numerous performance opportunities. Our early childhood music classes, Vivaldi Seasons, are a huge hit with our youngest students – and a great way to encourage a life-long love of learning at a early age. With our three convenient locations in West U, Bellaire and our brand new location in Memorial, we are excited to bring the joy of music to Houston!

Grand Opening Event at the Memorial Location!

The Memorial facility, at 9311B Katy Freeway in the Echo Lane Shopping Center, has the capacity to enroll 1000 students. Fifteen new teachers began on August 1st, and the successful opening was celebrated with a ribbon cutting event on August 25th. Faculty, staff, students, and friends gathered to enjoy lunch, cupcakes, face painting, and a photo booth. “Our third location delivers the same high-quality education that our students have come to expect. We’re continuing our proven curricula of private lessons, group voice lessons, strings ensemble, and our very own early-childhood music program – Vivaldi Seasons,” Zeljko Pavlovic.

We have so much to celebrate this month – a new location, our 5th birthday AND being named Houston Business Journal’s 100 Fastest growing companies in Houston! Thank you to all of our Vivaldi families and friends for your continuous support and for DREAMING BIG with us!

The back to school season can be hectic. Sometimes simply getting back into the swing of things takes some preparation. Here are some easy tips to ease the transition!

Lock down your schedule

Most kids respond well to consistent schedules, so use a calendar to ensure everyone know what activities are expected each day. This includes both lessons and practice times! Also consider including a rewards system that will help make the connection from consistent practicing and hard work to beautiful musical results.

Set realistic expectations for practicing

Make sure everyone is on the same page! Younger children may need shorter practice times compared to older children. Also, if your child is overtired from school and other activities, try to reschedule a time when they are well-rested and enthusiastic for learning music.

Stay organized

Come to music lessons with all the essentials! If your child is especially forgetful, consider creating a checklist and posting it on the door.

Befriend your child’s music teacher

You are more than welcome to sit in on at least the first few lessons, which will help ease anxiety and also allows you to get a feel for their teaching style. Communication is key for everyone!

Don’t forget the practice journal

A practice journal can be an incredibly valuable tool, when both student and teacher are using it effectively. Sit down with your child and review the journal each week.

An email with recital FAQs and sign up link was emailed to all students – please be sure to read through the information thoroughly to ensure a smooth recital day experience. Sign ups will close on Friday, May 18th at 8pm. There are many benefits for participating in a recital including:

1) Giving students something to work towards (motivation to practice!)

2) Performance experience

3) Inspiration from watching more advanced performers

4) A feeling of pride and accomplishment

Happy Holidays from Vivaldi Music Academy | December Newsletter

Vivaldi Music Academy will be holding our Student Winter Recitals at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music (Alice Pratt Brown Hall) on Saturday December 9th, Sunday December 10th, Saturday December 16th and Sunday December 17th. Don’t forget – family and friends are welcome to attend! We can’t wait to see all of our students perform!

Updated Parking Details:

The current parking lot for Shepherd School of Music (Alice Pratt Brown Hall) will be closed to prepare for construction site for a new music and opera building. The West Lot 2 has been designated for all Shepherd School of Music (Alice Pratt Brown Hall) events. The easiest way to access this lot is to enter campus from Entrance #18 off Rice Boulevard and then turn right at the parking gates to West Lot 2. For visitors with disabilities, accessible parking will be available at the south end of the lot.

A credit card will be required to pay for parking for West Lot 2. The fees for the use of these lots are $1 for each 30 minutes, with a $11 daily maximum.

We hope you will be able to help out our friends at the Know Autism Foundation this holiday season. The KNOWAutism Foundation provides direct financial assistance to families with children on the spectrum to help reduce the financial burden of diagnosis and therapeutic services. KNOWAutism also partners with other organizations to support community based programs that serve special needs students, promote awareness and early intervention, and provide a library of resources and referrals.
