Arturo “Archie” G has over 10 years of teaching experience. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Industry – Instrumental Performance Track from Loyola University New Orleans. His studies have also taken him to the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music for Instrumental Performance, Indiana’s Jacobs School of Music for Orchestral Performance, as well as numerous summer festivals across the nation. He owes both his violin and viola training to his mentors and masters of their craft: Andrzej Grabiec, Kyung Sun Lee, Lawrence Wheeler, Johnny Chang, Michel Zaitzeff, Amy Thiaville, and Bruce Owen.
In the lesson room, Archie teaches concepts such as problem-solving, self-awareness, goal setting, and verbal/non-verbal communication through individualized lesson plans incorporating elements of general musicianship, such as ear training and theory, as well as instrumental technique and interpretation. This, in turn, helps the student build confidence, discipline, mathematical, social, and communication skills, as well as self-sufficiency.
When Archie isn’t teaching, he can often be found playing in local symphonies, rock shows, or riding his vintage bike all over Houston.
