How long have you been taking voice lessons?

I’ve been at taking lessons at Vivaldi for about a year now. Wow. It doesn’t even feel that long. It feels like I just started a few weeks ago

What do you enjoy about Vivaldi Music Academy?

I love the atmosphere and diversity. I love that while I’m singing there is someone down the hall playing the piano, and someone is playing the guitar and all this different stuff is happening. My voice teacher is Miss LaDonna and she is fantastic, but all the other teachers seem great too.

What is one of the most interesting things you’ve learnt while studying voice?

I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve learnt SO much. I now know how to control and maintain my voice and how to exercise it. I now also know more of who I am and where I am vocally. My voice is changing just now so having lessons at Vivaldi is helping me work through that.

Who are you favorite musical artists?

Anything musical theatre. Just press shuffle on my musicals playlist and I’m happy. I Love Les Misérables, The Phantom Of The Opera and Sweeney Todd in particular. I love Ramin Karimaloo’s albums Human Heart and The Road to Find out East, Sierra Boggess’s album Awakenings, Scott Alan’s Keys, and anything by Michael Bublé.

What did you do this summer?

I did two shows this summer. I was in The Pirates of Penzance with Houston Grand Opera, and The Wiz at Wildfish Theatre, where I played The Wiz. I also went up to New York City to see some Broadway shows with my dad, then up to Canada with my entire family to visit friends.

Do you have any advice to student who may be interested in studying music?

I’m going to give the same answer I give for most advice and that is just work hard. Just put in lots of effort and the rest will come naturally. Also get good with sight-reading.

What school do you attend?

I am an 8th grader at Pershing middle school.
